Catchy pop song or lasting classic... hmmmm
DJ 08:07:33 | 18 Apr 2012
These are actually my official office hours!
Sparkly Aph 09:06:36 | 12 Nov 2011
One of my favourites to dance round the kitchen to
Lesley 08:38:31 | 12 Feb 2011
Exactly. My favourite kind ;-)
DJ 08:58:34 | 22 Nov 2010
Highly unusual: A happy dirge with an introduction of the French national anthem (?) that seemed to unify the world for a short time. Excellent!
andrewgoulding 08:13:55 | 22 Nov 2010
The perfect sublimated prepubescent lust song.
andrewgoulding 08:10:40 | 22 Nov 2010
I've not seen that clip before - classic, thanks Andrew!
DJ 08:04:28 | 22 Nov 2010
Ex Bonzo dog Neil Innes with a wonderful Abbey Road story about the Bonzos first recording + The Beatles down the hallway http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KNQeIgangA
andrewgoulding 12:07:12 | 21 Nov 2010
Arguably McCartney's greatest "this sounds more meaningful than it actually is" song.
andrewgoulding 11:57:26 | 21 Nov 2010
"hung about" is the correct lyric - my memory's going!
Hmmm. Still think it's a downer!
andrewgoulding 08:10:42 | 9 Nov 2010
Hmm don't know this one (although as with all of them, probably recognise it when I hear it!)
DJ 07:17:57 | 9 Nov 2010
Can't say I'm an expert, but I thought it was '...nothing to get hung about' as in it's escaping, rather than being marooned?
DJ 07:07:03 | 9 Nov 2010
Well, it's not "up" the way e.g. Got to Get You Into My Life is.
If SFF is a descent into Lennon's fractured drug soul, that place is where:
"Nothing is real
And nothing to get home about"
which is then qualified by:
"Strawberry Fields forever".
Lennon was doomed to live in this ambivalence forever - that's down enough for me!
andrewgoulding 20:13:52 | 8 Nov 2010
I'm so surprise that Beatle fans don't know about it - I didn't!
andrewgoulding 19:45:16 | 8 Nov 2010
hahahahhaa that video is FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC :-))))
DJ 17:00:07 | 8 Nov 2010
Really? It doesn't strike me as a 'downer'
DJ 16:49:48 | 8 Nov 2010
Wow, what a description... I'll have to check this one out. Rating to ensue....
DJ 16:45:46 | 8 Nov 2010
Weird, glorious and mundane - quite a trifecta!
andrewgoulding 12:06:48 | 8 Nov 2010
A song about Mary Jane, Paulie says.
andrewgoulding 12:05:21 | 8 Nov 2010
Probably rock's greatest political song that you can dance to.
andrewgoulding 12:04:14 | 8 Nov 2010
A fairly cworknan like plodder that the ensemble - especially the backing vocals - transform into a glorious romp.
andrewgoulding 12:02:30 | 8 Nov 2010
Probably my favorite downer song, ever.
andrewgoulding 12:00:43 | 8 Nov 2010
An insane self-portrait with some great bass from Paulie.
andrewgoulding 11:59:38 | 8 Nov 2010
Virtually all Lennon's drug songs were crackers and this is one of the best!
andrewgoulding 11:58:18 | 8 Nov 2010
One of the least know genuine Beatle classics "One more time".
andrewgoulding 11:56:52 | 8 Nov 2010
William "Star Trek" Shatner doing Lucy - with a brilliant pop art music video.

http://andrewgouldingarticles.blogspot.com/2010/11/is-this-definitive-version-of-lucy-in.html
andrewgoulding 11:54:03 | 8 Nov 2010
Well at least she didn't go all pretentious like Bono did on U2's cover - "Charles Manson stole this from the Beatles, we're taking it back"!!
Sir Coolerking 10:22:01 | 22 Sep 2010
'not the best in the band' tee hee >x^p
Spiny Norman 09:55:16 | 22 Sep 2010
Great song. You'll hate me for this, but I really liked the Pat Benetar cover!

*ducks quickly*
DJ 09:53:16 | 22 Sep 2010
Nice review, Sir C... that just made me down tools and pop the CD on for another listen ;-)
