Description Wensleydale cheese is a cheese produced in the town of Hawes in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire, England. There are five main types:

Real Yorkshire Wensleydale is usually shaped into a variety of weights moulds ranging in size from a small flat disc known as a "truckle" that is highly pressed, and preserved in wax, to several larger cheeses—it is a mild cheese with an acidic-honeyed flavour

Mature Wensleydale is a harder, more highly-flavoured version of the Real Yorkshire Wensleydale and highly prized by cheese connoisseurs

Extra Mature Wensleydale the strongest Wensleydale cheese, matured for nine months

Blue Wensleydale has blue veins and is produced in range of sizes. It is highly flavoured but less salty than the classic British blue Stilton

Oak Smoked Wensleydale is cold smoked to produce a cheese with a special tang and texture

Gromit's not the only one
I LOVE Wensleydale. It's crumbly, creamy, tangy and begs you to eat more and more and more. My vizsla doesn't look like Gromit, but he does agree. Woof!

If you can't make it to Switzerland then the Teddington Cheese Shop is a good bet...This cheese is absolutely delicious.

You don't HAVE to go to Switzerland for this, but le Cantonale Vaudoise is so beautiful, it's a good excuse!

Just have to reiterate how absolutely delicious this cheese is. It puts many other cheddars to shame......order it on the net if you can't find it locally and take it as a gift when going to dinner instead of wine

One of the best cheeses available, leave it out for a good few hours before serving, then grab a spoon and dive in!
