Wonderful atmosphere in there. Nice warm fire in winters. Just watch your head in there - low beams - although most seemed padded ;)

Best pub... anywhere!
Stopped by here a week or so ago for the first time in more years than I care to imagine, and was delighted to discover that not much had changed. Its low ceilings, fireplaces, friendly locals and higgledy rooms are still achingly charming, and the beer is still served as it should be - straight out of the barrel from behind the bar. None of this new-fangled drawing through pumps and fizzing the stuff up! :-)

The restaurant has been upgraded to borderline gastro, but it's not pretentious. The food was absolutely first rate, and worth the slightly steep prices (although not as expensive as some other aspirational pubs).

The Chimneys is an archetypal English country inn and very much worth going out of your way. I think this could be the best pub in Kent.. which of course, would make it the best pub in the world!

An absolute
...must if you are in the area. Fortunately we are about to be living under 10 minutes from this great place. It has heaps of atmosphere and charming staff as well as extremely friendly locals. We arrived on a busy Sunday lunchtime and even though fully booked managed to find us a table for some top notch food. It's not cheap but it is worth it. The beers are fab and served directly from the casks, just the way it should be......a dare you not to rate it with top marks.

Yes, the Tribute ale is indeed superb. It has a certain "guzzle factor" about it!

Good beers in here and friendly staff. Food is ok, but your basic pub grub. Told it gets very busy when the rugby is on.

Couldnt agree more......leave the food well alone, but the rooms are great at £95/night.......and they take dogs! :-)
