c is the constant symbol for the speed of light
the speed of light = 299 792 458 m / s

Ever since I was made aware of this fact, it's always troubled me. Why should such a fundamental constant be such an odd number? I can only assume that we either need a better definition for distance than 'metre', or for time than 'second'....
